ABOUT FYW
(mission)
Our mission is to help individuals feel comfortable in tough situations throughout their lives and overcome any type of mental barrier they may have.
Find Your Worth is a self-started personal project by four friends. Find Your Worth was created to share the stories of a variety of people who have experienced or are currently experiencing some type of barrier that has affected their mental health. Whether it's through bullying, depression, societal expectations, and many others.
We feel that if we share these stories, we can create a sense of community and contribute to the positive movement associated with dealing with mental health.
(podcast)
FYW will release one interview and one interview review onto our podcast. Individuals will share their stories and experience with mental health through the interview. After every interview, podcast host Go Kumagai will speak to either Sherwin, Shelly, or Dezi about the interview. During the interview review, they will be able to share their own experiences and opinions on mental health in relation to the interview.
You can find our podcast on almost all podcast apps including iTunes, Spotify, Google Play Music, Podcast Addict, CastBox, and many more. Just type in Find Your Worth and subscribe to our channel on your favourite podcast app!

Meet the Team

Sherwin Bacani
I am currently studying Physical Education at the University of Winnipeg. I am hoping to start working towards my Bachelor of Education this upcoming fall of 2018. When I am not studying, I am playing and coaching volleyball. I also enjoy reading, writing, and spending time with my family and friends. My happy place is the cabin; here I can escape the hustle and bustle of the city. I am doing this project because people need to know that they deserve to be happy, just as much as I do. This is my message and hopefully, with my partners and I, we will be able to spread that.

I’ve dealt with mental illness for a lot of my life and I’ve always felt alone and too afraid to speak out. It took a long time to learn that the best way to heal is just to talk about it because if you don’t, you get trapped in your own thoughts and become a slave to your emotions. I am so grateful to have heard these inspirational stories and so thankful that people are willing to do this to help others, regardless of how hard it is for them. Everyone that has helped make this project a reality is so brave for sharing their experiences and I could not thank them enough. Being a part of this team means so much to me because I know that together we will make a difference and help those around us.

Forever curious and glass half full. I'm on a continual pursuit to wake up everyday, doing what I love. Podcasts have been a major part of who I am and how I think since I was 18 years old. I'm truly grateful to be a part of this project and the host for this podcast. If I can affect even one listener the way other podcasts have affected me, this project will have been worth it. Life is not about the finish line...it's the journey.

Graduate from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management and Community Development. I have a major in Recreation Studies and a minor in Psychology. I'm obsessed with beautiful skies, all types of doggos, and working with kids. To be honest, I was accidentally pulled into this project so I really don't know what I'm doing here. Just kidding... Seriously though, listen to the first podcast if you don't believe me. I've come to realize that being an active listener really helps a lot of people when it comes to coping with their problems. I hope that this project will open the eyes of many to mental awareness and realize it's not "just a phase". I'm also hoping that this project will help individuals feel more open and comfortable when it comes to dealing with their struggles.
